For video notes:

You are on an Exalted character

And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character.
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ

(Quran Qalam 68:4)

Split the moon but nobody saw it

Narrated Anas:
That the Meccan people requested Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the splitting of the moon. (Bukhari 3637)

Changing Qibla

We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do. (Quran 2:144)

Zainab marriage

Ibn Saad and Ibn Tabari

Anas (Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the ‘Iddah (waiting period after divorce before remarriage) of Zainab was over, Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to Zaid to make a mention to her about him. Zaid went on until he came to her and she was fermenting her flour. He (Zaid) said: As I saw her I felt in my heart an idea of her greatness so much so that I could not see towards her (simply for the fact) that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) had made a mention of her. So I turned my back towards her, and I turned upon my heels, and said: Zainab, Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) has sent (me) with a message to you. She said: I do not do anything until I solicit the will of my Lord. So she stood at her place of worship and the (verse of) the Qur’an (pertaining to her marriage) was revealed, and Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) came to her without permission… (Muslim)

Marrying 9 wives and any woman who offers herself, without any wali or dowry

With regard to the Prophet himself, he is not obliged to give a dowry to a woman who offers herself to him, even if he consummated the marriage, because he has the right to marry without a dowry, Wali (representative) or witnesses, as we have seen in the story of Zaynab bint Jahsh, may Allah be pleased with her. Qatadah said, concerning the Ayah:

خَالِصَةً لَّكَ مِن دُونِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

(a privilege for you only, not for the (rest of) the believers.) no woman has the right to offer herself to any man without a Wali or a dowry, except to the Prophet.)    (Ibn Kathir for 33:50)

O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation and those your right hand possesses from what Allah has returned to you [of captives] and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you

and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to marry her, only for you, excluding the [other] believers.

We certainly know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives and those their right hands possess, [but this is for you] in order that there will be upon you no discomfort. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. (Quran Ahzab 33:50)

 Saudas night and Aisha’s comments

Sauda’s night story.  And how Allah revealed a verse saying its okay for him to do that –  because I guess it seemed unfair, so God wanted to make sure nobody thinks this is unfair to Sauda.

You (O Muhammad) can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive whom you will. And whomsoever you desire of those whom you have set aside (her turn temporarily), it is no sin on you (to receive her again), that is better; that they may be comforted and not grieved, and may all be pleased with what you give them. God knows what is in your hearts. And God is Ever All-Knowing, Most Forbearing. (Quran Ahzab 33:51)

Aisha herself found this quite interesting, that Allah revealed things in favour of Prophet Muhammad’s desires:

Narrated Aisha: I used to look down upon those ladies who had given themselves to Allah’s Apostle and I used to say, “Can a lady give herself (to a man)?” But when Allah revealed: “You (O Muhammad) can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive any of them whom you will; and there is no blame on you if you invite one whose turn you have set aside (temporarily).’ (33.51) I said (to the Prophet), “I feel that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Best to my wives

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet said: “The best of you is the one who is best to his wife, and I am the best of you to my wives.” (Ibn Majah 1977)

Go home after dinner don’t stay too long

O you who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of [dismissing] you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not [conceivable or lawful] for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever. Indeed, that would be in the sight of Allah an enormity. (Quran Ahzab 33:53)

Don’t raise your voice over the Prophet’s

O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not. (Quran Hujurat 49:2)

Love me more than yourself

The Prophet (ﷺ) said “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.” (Bukhari 15)

If you love Allah then follow me

Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Quran Ali Imran 3:31)
